  • Garcia ends Tour drought, wins Players (AP)

Paul Goydos waves to the crowd as he walks up the 18th fairway during the final round of The Players Championship golf tournament in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., Sunday, May 11, 2008. Sergio Garcia, of Spain, defeated Goydos on the first playoff hole.

Sergio Garcia summed up his day, his week, maybe even his career, with one small gesture Sunday. Garcia lagged a 45-foot putt from the fringe to 3 feet for par on the famed 17th at TPC Sawgrass, then kissed his putter. The stick that tormented him so many times before, including earlier in the week and most notably at last year's British Open, became his trusted ally in the final round at The...

  • Sorenstam pulls away from Ochoa for win (AP)

Christina Kim sticks out her tongue as the ball nears the hole on the 16th green during the final round of the Michelob Ultra Open LPGA golf tournament at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va., Sunday, May 11, 2008. Kim finished with a 2-under 69 for a total of 12-under for the tournament.

Sorenstam conjured memories of the time when she was as dominant as Ochoa is now on Sunday, hitting every fairway and almost every green in a 66 that gave her a seven-shot victory in the Michelob Ultra Open with a...

  • Goydos undone by famed 17th at Sawgrass (AP)
Paul Goydos hit the first and the last ball into the murky lagoon surrounding the famed par-3 17th during The Players Championship. One was much more costly than the other. Goydos' wedge shot from 128 yards came up a little short in the first playoff hole Sunday against Sergio Garcia, ending his chance at winning for the third time in 16 years on the PGA Tour.
